Paul Okimat is a Statistical Epidemiologist with extensive experience in quantitative health research. He holds an MSc in Medical Statistics from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from Makerere University. His work focuses on applying advanced statistical methods to inform health policy and improve population health outcomes.
Paul has contributed to international research initiatives, including the PrEPVacc HIV vaccine clinical trial at the MRC/LSHTM/UVRI Uganda Research Unit, where he supported statistical analysis, data management, and scientific publications. He also serves as a statistician with Statistics Without Borders and as Co-Coordinator of the Fellows’ Network at the MRC International Statistics and Epidemiology Group, promoting collaboration and professional development among global health researchers.
He is affiliated with the Families and Parenting Programme at Child Health and Development Centre, supporting the implementation and evaluation of projects such as the Parenting for Respectability Programme, an evidence-based intervention addressing violence against children, intimate partner violence, and gender-based violence while promoting positive father engagement and healthier family relationships.
Paul’s work includes data management and statistical analysis using tools such as Stata, R, and Excel, generating evidence to guide programme implementation, research, and policy engagement. He also contributes to academic writing, proposal development, grant writing, and capacity building, providing training and technical support to strengthen data-driven decision-making.
