Mr. Hosea Katende Sempa

Hosea is a seasoned development professional with over 20 years of experience in education and social development, specializing in child protection, social-emotional learning, and scaling evidence-based interventions. Currently, he serves as the Scale and Capacity Development Officer at Makerere University’s Child Health and Development Centre (CHDC).

In this position, he drives the reach and impact of the Parenting for Respectability intervention, most recently coordinating a comprehensive course on "The Science of Evidence-Based Parenting Interventions" to explore pathways for national and regional scale. His work involves close collaboration with government ministries (MGLSD), local governments, and international and local implementers to generate and apply evidence on effective parenting approaches.

Previously, he provided long-term technical leadership for the USAID/Uganda-funded Literacy Achievement and Retention Activity, playing an instrumental role in developing and implementing the national "Journeys" program to eliminate violence against children in schools. His expertise extends to designing social and behavior change  including Uganda’s National Parenting Training Manual and the Ministry of Education's "Journeys" program to prevent violence in schools. Prior to this, I provided extensive technical leadership for USAID/Uganda's flagship education and child protection activities.
